Nicked: Guess the Cricketer
Last updated: 5 October 2026
- What the app itself collects
Nothing. The app has no account of its own and there is no server of mine. Your puzzle progress and guesses, statistics and streaks, XP and badges, Run Chase scores, past puzzles, friend challenges and settings are stored on your device. They leave it only if you sign in to Google Play Games (below). A friend challenge is a short code you send yourself; it contains only the chosen cricketer, scrambled, and nothing about you. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it deletes everything.
- Google Play Games (optional)
If you sign in to Google Play Games (it's optional, and the app also works without it), Google Play Games receives your gamer profile (gamer name and avatar), the badges you earn as achievements, your scores on three leaderboards (best streak, daily wins and Run Chase best) and a saved game holding your results (daily results, streak freezes, practice and Run Chase totals and past puzzles), so a new phone can pick up your streak. Your settings are never uploaded. This data goes to Google over encrypted connections and is kept with your Google account under the Google Privacy Policy; it is never sent to me. Leaderboards show your gamer name and avatar to other players as your Play Games profile settings allow. You can delete Nicked's Play Games data, or your whole Play Games profile, in the Play Games app or your Google Account.
- Advertising
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob: banners, native ads, full-screen ads between games, and optional rewarded ads you choose to watch for an extra clue, a streak freeze, more practice or Run Chase innings, double XP or a second chance. To serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google may collect:
- Your device's advertising ID and app set ID
- Approximate location derived from your IP address
- Ad and app interaction data, diagnostics and crash information
On recent Android versions, the ads SDK may also use Android's built-in ad privacy features (ad topics and ad measurement); you can turn these off in your device's Ads privacy settings. Data goes to Google over encrypted connections and is processed under the Google Privacy Policy. You can read how Google uses data from apps that use its services.
- Sharing
When you share a result or send a friend challenge, Android's share sheet hands the text to the app you pick. Nicked itself sends nothing. A shared result contains only the puzzle number, your score, coloured squares, your streak and a link to the game: no player names and no answers.
- Remove ads purchase
Remove ads is a one-time purchase handled by Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment; the app never sees your card details or Google account. It only learns whether the purchase was made, and keeps that on your device.
- Permissions
Notifications, used only for the optional daily reminder, which is scheduled on your device. Internet and network state, for ads and purchase checks. The advertising ID and Android's ad services, for AdMob. Google Play Billing, for the Remove ads purchase. Google Play Games, if you sign in, for achievements, leaderboards and the cloud save. The app does not use your camera, microphone, contacts, location or files.
- Your choices
- If you're in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent through Google's User Messaging Platform before any ad is requested. You can change this at any time in the app under Settings, Privacy choices.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings, Privacy, Ads.
- Remove ads switches off every ad in the app.
- Play Games is optional: play without signing in, or delete its data for Nicked in the Play Games app.
- Children
The app is made for a general audience aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
- Unofficial fan game
Nicked is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the ICC, BCCI, IPL or any cricket board, league or team. Player names are used only to identify them in the quiz. The app contains no player photos or team logos.
- Changes
I'll update this page if the policy changes. The date above shows the latest version.
